Book your kayak at Stocken Camping

When the kayak centre in Stocken is no longer open every day, we offer self-service kayak rental – a simple and convenient way to get out on the water whenever you like! You book and pay online, then choose the kayak model that suits you best when you arrive. We have both single and double kayaks. Which single kayak is best for you depends, amongst other things, on your height, and information about the different models is available on site.

You can rent a kayak for 3 hours, a full day, 24 hours or several days – perfect whether you want to go on a short trip around the archipelago or set off on a longer adventure. We’re always available by phone if you need help or have any questions, and if we’re able to, we can even come down to the kayak centre to help you out in person. We speak German, English and of course Swedish - so don't hesitate to call if you have questions or need help!

This is how it works

5 steps to your kayak!

STEP 1

Book and pay for your kayak online. There are five single kayaks and six double kayaks. All kayaks can be hired for three hours, a full day, 24 hours or for several days.

STEP 2

Make your way to Stocken Camping. It’s a good idea to arrive about 30 minutes before your start time so that you have time to walk down to the centre and collect your equipment and the kayak.

STEP 3

Walk across the campsite down to the kayaking centre. On your right, you’ll find white lockers built into the building and the kayaks in front of the centre. Your booking confirmation contains a number and a code for the locker. Inside the locker, you’ll find the following equipment:

Life jacket, spray skirt, paddle
Map of the area
Waterproof bag, paddle leash, sponge

STEP 4

Unlock the box using the code provided in your booking confirmation. You’ll find information about the kayaks on the list next to the box. Place the kayak on the lawn near the water’s edge. Adjust the foot pedals and familiarise yourself with how the rudder works. Pack the kayak and make sure all the hatches are properly closed. Check the weather before heading out to sea and adapt your paddling to the weather conditions.

STEP 5

When you return from your paddle, empty the kayak and clean it with a sponge – removing any coarse dirt and sand. Put the kayak back on the rack and turn it upside down. Shake out and clean your kit as required, then put everything back in the box. Please hang up the life jacket and spray cover so that they can dry. Lock the box again and have a look around to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything.

SAFETY INFORMATION

Check the weather before you set off, particularly the wind speed and direction. If you have a choice, always paddle into the wind on the way out and with the wind behind you on the way back. Allow extra time and energy for paddling into the wind. Try to paddle in the lee as much as possible.

Life Jacket & Phone

All paddlers must wear a life jacket. One member of the group must also carry a mobile phone close to their body (e.g. in their life jacket), securely packed in a waterproof case, so that they can call for help if necessary.

Wind & Weather

Equipment

Always adjust the pedals whilst you’re on land. Take the time to familiarise yourself with the kayak and the equipment. Try raising and lowering the rudder, and get a feel for how to steer. To fit the spray skirt, put it on like a skirt with the long side at the front, then pull it round the edge of the cockpit. NB! Make sure the handle at the front of the spray skirt is outside the cockpit and visible, so you can pull it if the kayak capsizes.

The nearest bus stop is ‘Stocken Camping’. Plan your journey on the Västtrafik website. It is approximately 650 metres from the bus stop to the kayaking centre.

Car & Camper Van

You can park in the Stocken Camping car park, where you can pay using, for example, Easy Park. If you’re hiring a kayak for more than two days, please contact us to book one of our own parking spaces in advance at a discounted rate. If you’re arriving in a motorhome, please contact the campsite reception, who will help you with parking.
